Say you have some text content in a PDF file but you do not want to work with a PDF, you want to work with a TXT file instead. Salty Brine Software’s appropriately named application TEXTfromPDF makes it easy to convert the PDF you already have into a new TXT File. All the text content from the PDF file will be extracted and stored as a TXT – all will be done at a lighting fast pace.

Speaking about that, downloading the 2.1MB installation file will take but a moment and so will going through the installation process itself. As you expect, a setup wizard will show up when you run the aforementioned 2.1MB file and guide you through the installation process.

The upper part of the interface lists all the PDF files you loaded; buttons for loading PDF files are conveniently located at the top and at the bottom. Beneath there’s a section that allows you to specify where the TXT file will be saved and a section that lists the converted TXT files.

Using TEXTfromPDF is a very simple 3-step process that goes something like this:
Step 1 – load one or more PDF files. There’s an Add PDF button in the upper left hand corner and in the upper right hand side as well.
Step 2 – pick the destination folder. You can save the resulting TXT file to the same folder as the source PDF or to another location.
Step 3 – launch the conversion process. To do so just click the Convert button at the top; once you do so, you will be invited to specify how the text will be formatted: simple formatting, original layout, reading order.

Please note that TEXTfromPDF is only free to try. It comes with the following trial limitations: 20-day evaluation period, only the first 10 pages will be converted, a watermark will be placed on the output TXT file.

The user friendly application TEXTfromPDF does its job efficiently and rapidly.

Pros

Quickly get TEXTfromPDF up and running on a Windows-powered machine. You will not have to go through a steep learning curve to get accustomed to the interface. Quickly convert PDF files to TXT.

Cons

Shareware limitations; nag screen.
